About
I am a partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP in San Francisco and represent market participants across nearly every touch point of the crypto industry. This site is a personal outlet that allows me to think and write about crypto law from trenches: structuring, compliance, strategy, and the novel issues practitioners actually face.
Having worked with and led preeminent global crypto teams for nearly a decade has provided a unique opportunity for the development of a personal tactical toolkit and accompanying pattern recognition underwritten by deal diversity and volume that (IMHO) is second to none. This site will generally focus on longer form, and more targeted, content.
My intention is to provide a platform for expressing my personal observations and best practices related to real-world, every day challenges that crypto asset issuers, service providers, and investors routinely face. You won't find sanitized client alerts that are available everywhere. I tackle difficult questions, share experiences and strive to provide actional takeaways. I'm not an oracle and won't claim to be 100% accurate on every challenging parse. But I do promise authenticity and an open door to discuss, debate and collaborate on any topic I write about.
